United Way each year helps hundreds of local families prepare their income taxes, free of charge, with their Volunteer Income Tax Assistant (VITA) program. They are now accepting appointments for 2023. To make an appointment or see where the tax prep sites will be held in 2023, click on the flyer to right.
Trained volunteers will prepare taxes for FREE for Quad Citizens with a household income of $60,000 or less — and make sure you receive all tax credits you are eligible for including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC).
In 2023, tax preparation is offered in person primarily by appointment, from Feb. 1 through April 12th at seven different locations across the QCA. A walk-in option is available from Feb. 7 through April 8 at The Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center only.
These IRS-certified volunteers can also answer any questions you have about building savings and protecting your finances. Many locations will also offer you the opportunity to open a savings account and have your tax return deposited directly to that account. Returns are deposited into your account in three to five days on average.
